July 15th FISHING REPORT

For Tuesday, 7/15/14, expect a high about 88 degrees with SSW/S winds 15 – 20 MPH, partly cloudy skies and a 40% chance of rain.  Sunset will be 8:19 PM and sunrise tomorrow is at 5:58 AM.
First tide is a low at 4:19 AM with the high at 10:22 AM
Second tide is low at 4:39 PM followed with the high at 10:41 PM

Duck research pier posted the water temp this morning at a nipply  59 degrees – We’re talking severe shrinkage here.  The other northern OBX piers are listing similar chilly temps in the low 60s.  This cold, muddy, water condition definitely puts a damper on our local beach and pier fishing.  AND THE GOOD NEWS – expect a sea change Wed nite and Thurs as the wind swings around to the N-NE.  If you don’t like the weather around here, just wait a little while, it will accommodate ( not always the way you like ).  Meanwhile if you head south of  Rodanthe on Hatteras Island, warmer water can be had at the expense of a short drive.

Fishing Report

Saturday July 5th
High of 81 degrees and mostly sunny winds are NE15-20 mph. Water temperature is 73 degrees. Sunset is at 8:23 P.M. and sunrise is at 5:51 A.M.
Not many reports have come in but Puppy drum runs have been reported at Jeannette’s Pier. The Sound is producing flounder, trout, and some puppy drum as well.
Good catches of blue fish have been reported up and down the beaches. Hatteras will be closed for awhile due to the storm. This is forcing the beaches north to be crowded so pier fishing has been popular but surf fishing has been good if you can find a good spot
