FISHING REPORT JAN 20th 2015

It’s a foggy Thursday on the sandbar. Winds are mostly NW 10-15, expected high around 46 degrees with a waist to chest swell on the northern beaches. Sunset tonight is 5:15 PM and sunrise tomorrow will be at 7:10 AM. First tide is low at 2:13 AM with the high at 8:23 AM. Second tide is low at 2:51 PM and high at 8:49 PM.

First hand accounts, people I speak with directly about what they caught or saw, had nothing to give me this past week – either no fish were caught or they didn’t go. Digging deeper with second and third hand reports, a few (very few) puppy drum were landed on bait from the beaches and around Oregon Inlet. Down south from Buxton to Hatteras Inlet the water is much warmer and in addition to sharks skates, dogfish and drum, catches may occasionally include trout, sea mullet, croaker and bluefish. Jennettes is the only pier on the OBX open for business and when they actually have someone fishing, the report is usually skates and/or doggies.
Good luck, Coolbreeze out
